Time of flight is estimated from an average downrange speed taken as 85% of launch speed, since the arrow decelerates along the way. Lateral drift is then half the crosswind speed multiplied by that flight time. In this model drift scales linearly with both wind speed and distance: doubling either one doubles the predicted drift.
The verdict comes in three bands: under 2 inches of drift is rated minimal and needs no action; 2 to 6 inches is moderate, where the tool suggests adjusting your aim or pins into the wind; above 6 inches is severe, and the tool's recommendation is to pass on the shot rather than gamble on a hold-off.
